Carey is a former fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was sought-after by the top American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. Her father, a distinguished scientist, who was awarded the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a renowned geoscientist. Because of his professional career Carey grew up all around the world. As she was attending an institution called the University of Colorado, Carey began modeling on the side. An agent from Ford model agency located in New York noticed her and asked for help. After moving to France and briefly resided between Paris, Bordeaux and New York She decided to go back home to New York and continue her education. In the next few months, Vogue, Glamour and others featured her on their covers. She studied full-time in New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned while working on modeling assignments. As time passed, she was drawn to acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. In 1986 she began her career as an actor with a small role on the show "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her hobbies include skiing, white-water rafting, wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
